Safety

Even a map that is hours out of date will cost time and money.

We don't always think about how navigation and safety are linked.  Maptuit's customers report on average a 35% reduction in accidents. Here are a few examples of how navigation effects safety and how Maptuit is uniquely capable of doing so.

Research has shown that the predominance of accidents occur when a driver is lost.

Unique Algorithms

Maptuit NaviGo incorporates features that make routes less likely to be confusing. We all know that the shortest route isn't always the best route.  Maptuit's algorithm takes into account elements that could lead to a driver getting lost or going out of route such as..confusing intersections, poorly marked roads, forks and roads that change names.

39008safetyQuality of data

Maptuit has the largest collection of truck attributes for the United States and Canada in the world. Not only do we license base data from the best provider in the industry, NAVTEQ, but  we also have been collecting feedback for the nation's largest fleets for over 10 years.

Accuracy/Timeliness of Data

Your map data should come with a sell by date. Even a map that is hours out of date will cost time and money. Maptuit receives driver feedback from its community of over 100,000 professional drivers, who deliver timely updates to the mapping system.  This all translates into safer routes for driver which is directly relatated to a better ROI.

Here are some examples of how navigation impacts safety:

  • Driver notices that local DOT has laid 3 inches of asphalt without first removing a similar amount of existing pavement on a road over which several overpasses cross, but has neglected to adjust the bridge heights accordingly. Driver sends feedback to Maptuit, and the data team immediately changes bridge heights to assumed levels and promotes change to the road network
  • A tanker truck fleet has a gas station for a customer that is located on the corner of two streets. Because of a low overhang covering the gas pumps, there is only one safe way to enter that station when making a fuel delivery. Maptuit can associate the necessary modifiers and custom notes to that fleet’s customer location uniquely. When Maptuit’s servers receive a route request from that fleet to go to that specific location, modifiers will kick in that force the routing algorithm to come in on a specific street (Main St instead of Elm), from a specific direction (from the North instead of the South) and then prompt the driver with a custom note that states: “please use the second entrance to avoid the low overhang".
